Lilly blossoms at Greetham Valley!!

Simon Lilly (Wellingborough Golf Club) produced a fine display in 'bouncy conditions' to win the Greetham Valley Pro Am by 2 shots from Dan Clarke and home Professional Neil Evans.  His 5 under par total proved a formidable one which saw arguably the toughest pin position of the season at the 18th hole!!! The dry conditions on the undulating course meant that only those players in complete control of their golf ball were succesful.

Paul Streeter, Iain Fulton and Dan Greenwood finished in a tie for 4th place on 2 under par on a day that the cream certainly rose to the top.

The team event was won courtesy of an unbelievable score of 20 under par but astonishingly only on a countback.  You really must feel sorry for Adi Ashworths team from neighbouring Rutland Water who lost on the card count to Simon Lilly's team from Kettering Golf Club.  Mark Davis, Kevin turner and Andy Welsh made up the winning quartet to ensure it was a very lucrative day for Wellingboroughs Simon Lilly.  Third place went to Ashby Decoys team led by Professional Andy Miller who posted a 16 under par score.

Greenwood stays out the Woods at Belton!

Dan Greenwood (Forest Pines) showed his class to win the De Vere Belton Woods event played on the 'Woodside' course.  The event was a great success due to home professionals Iain Fulton and Matt Buckley hard work.  Greenwood claimed his first victory of the season with a fine 3 under par score in blustery conditions.  The five par 5's on the woodside course certainly proved to be to Greenwoods liking who finished two shots clear of Iain Fulton.  There was a whole host of players tied for third on level par 73.

Open Championship

Paul is heading to the 'home of golf'

Paul Streeter (Lincoln Golf Centre) has qualified to play in this years Open Championship at St Andrews alongside the like of Tiger Woods, Phil Mickleson and Lee Westwood.  Paul advanced to local final qualifying at Scotscraig thanks to a fine round at Lindrick in regional qualifying.  The task of actually making the Open once you are at final qualifying is certainly not an easy one!  With just twelve places available from 300 golfers over 4 demanding golf courses.

However Paul did it in style by winning his qualifying event with rounds of 69 and 66 to post a 5 under par total which saw him 2 clear of the chasing pack. 32 strokes on the final 9 holes (3 under) was all Paul needed to claim a spot at the most famous tournament in the world.  Congratulations paul and all at the Lincolnshire PGA wish you a successful tournament.

Cleethorpes Pro Am

Andrew turns back the clock!!

Andrew Hare relived the glory years with a glorious 5 under par 65 to win the Cleethorpes Pro Am.  Andrew who has posted a number of impressive scores over the past few years but he will be extremely happy with his days work.  Cleethorpes was presented in magnificent conditon with the greens running at more than 10 on the stimp metre.  Paul Streeter may have been forgiven for thinking it might not have been his day when he drove under a lone tree at the first hole but he was unfazed to post a 67 alongside John Wells of Cherry Burton who has already tasted success in a Lincolnshire Pro am this year at Immingham earlier in the season.

Congratulations to Steve Buckley (Belton Woods) who enjoyed an ALBATROSS TWO at the the par 5 16th Hole.  The three under par score on the 16th hole ironically led the team to a three shot winning margin!

Stoke Rochford Pro Am

1966 was a great year for England- 66 is a great score from Rastall

Tom Rastall (Sleaford) produced a fine score of 66 to win the Stoke Rochford Pro Am by a single shot.  His 4 under par score set a fine mark on the wonderful undulating course.  The recent dry weather mean't that players had to be in total control of their golf ball if they were to be successful and use a great deal of imagination which Rastall almost certainly did.  He was one shot clear of Dan Greenwood (Forest Pines) who returned top form with a highly commendable 67.  The top three was made up by form player and Lincs PGA new boy Dan Clarke with a 2 under par score of 68.

Buckley Quartet lead the way!!!

Matt Buckley (Belton Woods) and his team of S. Buckley, J. Carty and C. Jones produced some scintilating golf to finish on a 15 under par total of 125. They were three shots clear of the second place team which was led by Individual champion Tom Rastall.  His team consisted of a trio of Barclays. The quartet clearly must have 'banked' some fine prizes!!!!Three teams tied for 3rd on 129, the team professionals were Dan Clarke, Paul Bradshaw and Iain Fulton.  But it was Iain's team who claimed 3rd place on countback.

Familiar position for Evans

The Final result at this years Boston Pro Am finished the same way that many have during the past year with the prolific Neil Evans  (Greetham Valley) leading the way with a fine score of 70.  Dan Clarke, fresh off his maiden victory at Grimsby Golf Club continued his impressive form with a 71 to finish in 2nd place.  Andy Miller (Ashby Decoy) completed the top 3 with a score of 72 in his first appearance of the summer order of merit series.

Grimsby Pro Am

Clarke on form to secure victory

Dan Clarke (Lincoln Golf Centre) recorded his first pro am victory in only his 2nd start as a registered PGA trainee on the Lincolnshire circuit at Grimsby Golf Club.  His one under par score of 69 was a sublime score in tricky conditions.  Grimsby Golf Club was bathed in sunshine throughout the duration but a northerly wind and firm greens made scoring conditions very testing.  Clarke's score was well ahead of the chasing pack which was led by Grange Park's Jonathan Drury who has made a very good start to the 2010 summer season.  A quite remarkable 2 at the difficult 250 yard par 3 9th hole was the highlight of Jonathans round which consisted of just 24 putts.  Three players tied for 3rd place on 74.  They were Dean Worrall (Normanby Hall), Darryl Frame (Golf Attitude) and Michael Langford (Kenwick Park) who holed a 40m foot putt at the 18th for a birdie 3.

Richard's team set the Pace

Richard Pace joined forces with a team of Grimsby members comprising of P.Coutts, S.Owen and C.Smith to post a score of 129 to claim victory in the team event.  However, they didn't have it all their own way as they only claimed victory by the narrowest of margins.  In fact the two teams tested out PGA organiser David Drake's arithmetic as the scores could only be seperated on the last 6 holes.  Paul Streeter's team of Grimsby Vice Chairman P.Doughty, I.Wright and K.Hussey had to settle for 2nd place. Dean Worrall's Normanby Hall made up the top 3 with a score of 131.
